If you haven't joined us before, the course preview is something we have offered since 2015. The course preview is available to registered athletes only.
On Friday before the preview, Blair and Staci head out to Sweet Home and mark the bike course. Then, on preview morning, we meet all of our racers out at the lake for an open water swim followed by a bike ride. 7am - Buoys are set, water is open for swimming 7am - Open water swim clinic (optional) - how to put on your wet suit, tips and tricks for a smooth/calm swim, spotting drills and practice, Q&A. 8:30am - swimming closes - transition to bike rides 9:00am - Half-Iron course group leaves 9:05am - Olympic course group leaves 9:10am - Sprint and Super Sprint course groups leave The posse will go riding with you, at least 2 posse members per course! We have a fast person to lead the pack out, and a mid-pack person to ride with the main group. We have maps available (although you shouldn't need one thanks to the pre-marked course.) We will also have a SAG vehicle out on course and we will give you their cell number in case you need assistance on course. We don't set aid stations for the preview, so you'll need to come prepared with snacks and water. On the Half-Iron course, there is a store in Lacomb for filling bottles and getting additional treats. There are also restrooms at the turn around on the Half-Iron course. Come join us for a great weekend of training! It's a wonderful, low stress environment, with a bunch of fellow athletes. It's the perfect opportunity to get to know the course, and practice your open water skills. Never swam in a wet suit? Now's the time to try it out! If you'd like to join us, you'll need to take a few minutes to sign up so we know you are coming and can plan accordingly. The sign up link will be sent to registered participants once we set the date. The preview is free to any pre-registered participant, so if you have friends who want to join, have them sign up for the race and then for the course preview. Please note, there is a $7 fee to use the park that can only be paid onsite with cash. |
