This division makes up the vast majority of all athletes at our events. If there is any doubt at to where you should classify yourself, this is likely the category for you.
All age group athletes must participate and compete in the age group division corresponding to the athlete’s age on December 31 of the year of the event.
Half and Olympic Age Groups:
Standard USAT age groups
15 and under, 16-17, 18-19, 20-24, 25-29, 30-34, 35-39, 40-44, 45-49, 50-54, 55-59, 60-64, 65-69, 70-74, 75-79, 80-84, 85-89, 90+
Sprint and Super Sprint Age Groups:
In the Sprint and Super Sprint races, we add more youth age groups so the kids are racing other kids their age.

Participation in the challenged athlete open division is available to athletes with a medically verified physical, visual or neurological impairment that substantially limits one or more major life activities. The challenged athletes division also includes official parathletic divisions.

This division is for full time college students who would like to compete in the collegiate regional championships. You must be a full time student (minimum 12 credits per term for one year) or have graduated within the last 6 months to qualify. If you are unsure, ask your club president to contact the collegiate commissioner for your region.
Athena
An athena is any female athlete weighing greater than 165 pounds. Women meeting this criteria can chose to race as an athena or not. This division is available for the triathlon only.
Clydesdale
A clydesdale athlete is a male who weighs more than 220 pounds. Men meeting this criteria can chose to race as a clydesdale or not. This division is available for the triathlon only.
